At SMUMC we believe that the church is a community of
believers and that as a community, we are all called to take part in
making the mission and ministry of the church possible. Each week,
dozens and dozens of you volunteer your time in the office, on
committees, helping with special events, teaching Sunday School…
Many people are needed to make things happen! Your service is
appreciated! Here are some “holes” that need to be filled.

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers
are needed in the church office to answer the phones, do light
paperwork, fold 24/7 Guides, and help the pastors and staff as
needed. If you can help, please email Sara

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS
Sunday
School Teachers (for grades pre-k through 8th) are needed during both
services. They teach only once every 4 - 6 weeks so the rest of the
weeks you can participate in worship. The curriculum and materials
are all supplied for you so all you have to do is show up (yes, it’s
that easy). And you get the opportunity to laugh and learn
with some wonderful children and help them on their own journeys of
faith.

and know that they will remember you in their prayers every night for
the rest of the school year.
MULTIMEDIA TEAM
If
you've watched visual images on the screens in our sanctuary or visited
the SMUMC website, you have witnessed the talents of our church's
Multi-Media team. This ministry enhances our worship services
through graphics, video presentations and direction of the sound and
lights. While we are worshiping, the team videotapes the services;
the tapes are later edited and transferred to the website and now to DVD
(available through the book cart in the church lobby).
Special events, including baptisms, music camp, youth
mission trips, weddings, memorial services and the annual report are
taped, edited and produced as VHS and DVD by this team. On our
behalf, they provide videos of baptisms as gifts to the families
involved. Rated as best in our conference, our excellent web site is
also maintained by this group.
Our
church has the nucleus of a new environmental committee. Phil Peace,
Barbara Rosenbaum , Pharoh Winsor and Susanne Lister are beginning to
gather ideas and information about what our church’s interests and
priorities might be. Come and join us as we create a new
environmental vision for our church. Young people are invited.
