Focusing on areas of particular interest to women, two
on-going small groups meet periodically throughout the year. For
each session, the groups embark on a short-term Bible study (usually 6-8
weeks each), inviting re-registration for each session. Women are
free to participate or sit out a session as their schedules allow.
In addition to new ways of looking at faith and the Bible, the groups
also provide opportunities to connect with other Christian women
exploring their faith; the fellowship is as important as the study.
The themes study vary widely. This Fall the
group recently completed a study from the book "Year by the Sea".
The wish list for future topics includes an introduction to the world's
major religions.
These highly flexible and welcoming groups meet at the
church; one group on Tuesday mornings; the other on Thursday
evenings. Want more information? Contact Mary Widicus mwidicus@smumc.com.
Wednesday Morning Movie 'n Missions Group
This mostly fun women's group meets monthly for a
variety of activities. Some months we view member suggested
movies, watching them through the eyes of faith and discussing God's
presence in the story. Other months we embark on missions or
service projects. For example, much of our time last spring
involved planning the church's second annual tea, a delightful event
that raised $450 for breast cancer research.
This group is self-directed, so you never really know
what will be happening next.
Visitors and new members are always welcome. Contact Mary Widicus mwidicus@smumc.com
